One of those days

Everyone has one of these days where you are so tired and you still have so much work to do before calling it a night. (I see you shaking your head!) There is never enough time in the day to complete everything you want. No matter how much would do, at the end of the day we could use a couple more hours.

My brain fart moment of the night is I misspelled "FLAVOUR!" and posted everywhere "Favour" (she sighs sadly) What can I say? It happens and it was corrected. The most important thing is we have NEW FLAVOURS coming this week! We cannot wait for you to try these sweet treats and enjoy them as much as we do.

Baby Shower Theme Owls

Baby Showers are one of my favourite events! Being apart of a special event is very exciting.

This past weekend the theme was Owls. Owls are now every where but at the same time hard to come by. The main colours that I seem to run into is blue with brown, pink with brown, green with brown and orange with brown. Which is perfect but I have also come across many other colours that are very creative.

One of my assistants searched high and low for a cookie cutter in the shape of an owl but came up empty handed. Making them by hand was an option or ordering them in. I placed an order but was not sure if I would get them on time, so I made several attempts to make them on my own!

In the end the order came through (thank you, Bruna) because I could not make these little Owls so small to fit on the mini cupcakes!

CakePops

Every where you look for treats you can be sure to see CakePops among them. We have had a few request for these little treats on a stick and they can be a bit tricky to make.

At times the chocolate does not want to work with us but in the we overcome and complete the orders.

Here are some tips:

1) when the chocolate has melted take it off the heat and wait five minutes before you start dipping the cakepops into it
2) dip straight into the chocolate, twist once and use a spoon you cover the rest
3) tap the stick to get the extra chocolate off
4) add toppings before the chocolate dries
5) have a styrofoam sheet to press sticks into so that the pops may dry

These sweet treats on a stick are great for Baby Showers, Bridal Showers, Weddings, Birthdays and so much more. Add them to your next Candy Bar!

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Red Velvet Cakes have been around since the 1930's that we know of. The scarlet red hue was caused by the vinegar, cocoa powder and buttermilk reacted together (some would use the juice of beetroot).

The velvet was add because of the smooth texture of the cake. Most people fell in love with these cakes not because of the cake itself, it was because of the cream cheese. The sweetness of icing sugar added to the cream cheese made these creamy Red Velvet yummies into a smash hit for all to enjoy!

Today, Red Velvet is in high demand! We have many request for them and like to come up with new ways of making them. Some have the cream cheese frosting, while others have buttercream. Some are topped with fondant and filled with white chocolate.

Baking Memories

My kitchen is my lab! It smells like a bakery everyday and it gets a workout with all the baking experiments I do. I mix and blend new flavour profiles to entice your taste buds. I love classic flavours but I also love creating new flavours that will one day become classics.

Cracking open family cookbooks or going into the old shoe box filled with grandparents handwritten recipes is exciting to me. It always brings so many great memories and put a smile on my face.

The trick to making perfect sweet treats is to make them your way! Play around with classic recipes and create new ones. We will always have our classic recipes and we will hand them down to our love ones but now we have new ones to add to our recipe books and boxes. Ready for new memories.

Delivery & Rain!

In a perfect world things would always go as planned and there would never be any stress. But we are imperfect people, we make mistakes and things never go as planned.

Today had me sitting on the edge of my sit! A new client who had ordered a new flavour of cupcakes (Spicy Espresso Chocolate Fudge) was to be delivered today. I had everything packed and ready to go out.

Out of no where RAIN! Not just a little shower, no no no! Buckets of rain! COME ON! Of course it rains and the order was soaked from the front door to the car.

Luckily, the cupcakes were just fine and the gift cards just made it! At this point we are out of the woods for bad things, right?

That is a BIG no! My delivery person had an accident with his tire (BOOM) yikes! Not good. He was stuck in the rain for two hours (what a trooper!) The delivery was more than late but thankful we had the coolest and most understanding client ever! (Thank you so much for understanding)

After all the hiccups, the delivery arrived safe, sound and eaten in minutes! Happy clients!

I am grateful for my delivery person and am lucky to have him in my life and our business. Sometimes we cannot be perfect even if we try hard and that is okay because we make up for it in other areas.
